Fadillah: PBB team to probe malicious reports

KUCHING: A legal team will be formed soon to study the reports to run down the state government, as broadcasted by London-based Radio Free Sarawak.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Datuk Fadillah Yusof said he would act in the party’s capacity to form the team.
“We will study the contents of the report and if we find statements that are malicious and breach the law, we will not hesitate to take legal action against RFS,” Fadillah said after witnessing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Aizo Digitalworks Sdn Bhd yesterday.
Fadillah said the government had always worked hard to ensure all basic amenities were provided to the people, and never neglected their needs.
“We practice what we have preached all this while. Not like the opposition – they only accuse us with allegations that will simply destroy the harmony and restrict our effort to develop the nation.”
Fadillah said the government had reached out to the people through social networking on the Internet.
He said the best way to counter the radio was to tell the public not to listen to reports and messages which he regarded “subversive and corrosive” and “could bring chaos to the state”.
On how the state government will react to reports on the Internet blaming it, Fadillah replied: “The government will not simply sit down and keep quiet about it. We will form a team to counter those reports on the net. We will explain the policy they condemned. It is for the public to know the real facts about BN’s policy and its importance and benefits to the rakyat.”
A few state assemblyman have had bad experiences with RFS, counting among them Asajaya assemblyman cum political secretary to the Chief Minister, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Land Development Minister Dato Sri Dr James Masing.
